What's
available:
Are you
confused with what's available when selecting the right pair
of glasses? Your eyecare professional can help you make those
right choices. The following are options you should consider:
TRANSITIONS
LENSES (Plastic lenses that change)
Transitions
lenses are plastic lenses that are clear in color while indoors
and change to either a dark gray or brown when exposed to
UV light outdoors. Transitions lenses are also temperature
sensitive and will respond differently when worn in different
climates. These lenses are available in many different styles
such as single vision, bifocals, trifocals and progressive
(no line) bifocals. Ask your eyecare professional which material
and style best fit your needs.

HIGH
INDEX (The thinner lenses)
The market
has been flooded with new lens products designed to make your
eyewear look more attractive and feel more comfortable. High
index lenses play a big part in accomplishing this. High index
lenses are significantly lighter than glass lenses and even
lighter than regular plastic lenses. High index lenses are
available for most prescriptions and lens styles. Your
eyecare professional can demonstrate the differences.

POLARIZED
LENSES (For the ultimate in outdoor sunwear)
Polarizing
material when incorporated into lenses cut glare, and is invaluable
for activities such as driving and particularly any hobby
done on or near water such as fishing and boating. Skiers
also find a great benefit from snow reflection. Single vision
and many styles of multifocals are available in polarized
versions. Plastic is the preferred material. Your eyecare
professional should be able to demonstrate the benefits of
polaroid lenses.

ANTI-REFLECTION
COATINGS (known as A/R coatings)
Reflections
from the front surface of lenses are unsightly, and reflections
from the rear surface (such as computer operators) can interfere
with good vision. Anti-reflection (AR) coatings reduce or
eliminate such reflections. AR coatings can be applied to
all lens materials and are the fastest growing option being
ordered today. Toledo Optical features Pentax, completely
integrated lens coatings using multi-coated camera lens technology.
We also feature Pentax EasyClean coating that completely seals
the AR surface for superior stain resistance and ease of cleaning.
There is no better! Be sure to request Pentax Anti-reflective
coatings.

PROGRESSIVE
LENSES (Those no-line bifocals)
Ordinary
bifocals, like your grandparents used to wear with lines,
give you only distant and near vision with a jump in between.
Progressive lenses make you look younger, with no lens lines,
and give you continuous uninterrupted vision at all distances.
Toledo Optical is proud to be a distributor for Varilux Comfort®1
and Panamic® lenses. Varilux progressive addition lenses are
simply the most advanced lens design for people with presbyopia.
Varilux lenses allow you to see near, far, and everywear in
between - without annoying distracting lines. Varilux progressive
addition lenses are made from several different types of materials
so you can choose the right lens for your lifestyle. Because
there are so many imitators, only Varilux lenses come with
a Certificate of Authenticity, guaranteeing that you've received
genuine Varilux lenses. Ask your eyecare professional for
a demonstration of the Varilux Comfort lens.

POLYCARBONATE
(The toughest lens made!)
If you
or your children are active in sports this lens option is
for you. Polycarbonate lenses are the strongest, safest lens
material available today. These lenses are naturally thinner,
lighter and include UV protection. Your eyecare professional
will be very willing to demonstrate the benefits of polycarbonate
lenses.
